Submission Procedure

Detailed information on the submission procedure is available in the Épisciences platform documentation. The main steps are summarized below:

1. Prior Deposit in an Open Archive
Before submitting to JFT, authors must deposit their manuscript as a PDF document in an open archive of their choice (e.g., HAL, arXiv, Zenodo), using an appropriate open-access distribution license.
This deposit corresponds to the initial version (preprint) of the manuscript.

Authors are invited to use the provided templates (LaTeX or Word/LibreOffice), available below; the LaTeX format is nevertheless preferred:

• LaTeX template
• Word/LibreOffice template

Once accepted, articles will be presented in an enriched layout, different from that of the preprint. The final version uses the serif font TeX Gyre Pagella (a Palatino clone) for the main text and sans serif font TeX Gyre Heros (a Helvetica clone) for headings. The accent color is a dark blue #001f5c.

2. Creating an Account on Épisciences
If not already done, the author responsible for the submission must create an account on the Épisciences platform.

3. Submission to JFT
Once the manuscript has been deposited and identified through an open-archive identifier, the author may submit the article to JFT via the Épisciences platform. The submission is based on the version deposited in the open archive.

4. Peer Review
The review process then begins. Editorial decisions — acceptance, revision, or rejection — are communicated to the authors via the platform.

5. Revisions and Version Management
If revisions are requested, authors must deposit a new version of their manuscript in the open archive, corresponding to the revised version.
Each successive version must be clearly identified in the archive (v2, v3, etc.).
Authors must then notify the journal via Épisciences and provide a detailed response to the reviewers’ comments.

6. Acceptance and Final Version
Once the article is accepted, authors deposit the final version (published version / version of record) in the open archive.
This version must correspond to the manuscript accepted after peer review.

7. Publication
The article is then referenced and made accessible on the JFT website, with a link to the final version deposited in the open archive. Earlier versions remain accessible to ensure traceability of the scientific process.
